Ingram Micro expands Unified Communications portfolio

Have you heard? Ingram Micro recently acquired NetXUSA Inc, an unified communications and collaboration distributor. Ingram Micro aims to boost our portfolio of IP communications products to strengthen our UCC business and better support our customers.

Telecom and VoIP are growing in importance for managed service providers like Platte River Networks, which have to meet greater demands for connectivity, bandwidth and cloud solutions from customers. The acquisition of NetXUSA shows that Ingram Micro recognizes that need in the marketplace and is investing to help its partners fill the void for customers, as stated by David DeCamillis, vice president of sales and marketing at Platte River Networks, a Denver-based Ingram Micro partner.

Ingram will gain immediate access to a new telecom service provider customer set, and will look to leverage those relationships throughout the distributor’s entire global organization, Ingram Micro CEO Alain Mione stated. NetXUSA will keep the name as an Ingram Micro company. NetXUSA supports 1,200 customers in the United States with more than 300 independent telecommunications service providers and 800-plus resellers.

EVENT RECAP: 10/10 – 10/11/12 Unified Communications Boot Camp, San Mateo, CA

On October 10 -11, resellers, Ingram Micro representatives, and vendor partners gathered at the San Mateo Marriott for our second Unified Communications Boot Camp for the year. The 2 day event was filled with educational presentations from ADTRAN, Allied Telesis, Cisco, D-Link, Fluke Networks, Transition Networks, and ShoreTel. There was also a Speed Networking time with all ten of the sponsoring vendors. Resellers and vendors alike agreed that this was a valuable time to network and learn more about vendor business solutions.

Ingram Micro also invited CompTIA to provide a 4 hour Unified Communications training for attendees in which they would receive an Executive Certificate immediately upon completion. EVENT RECAP: Unified Communications Boot Camp in Buffalo, NY

On June 27th and 28th, a total of 60 resellers, vendor partners, and Ingram Micro associates gathered at the Hilton Garden Inn in Buffalo, NY for Ingram Micro’s annual Unified Communications Boot Camp.

The two days were jam packed with presentations from Polycom, ShoreTel, HP Networking, Microsoft Lync, Cisco Collaboration, Siemens Enterprise Communications, and D-Link Systems. There was also an engaging time of Speed Networking (Ingram Micro’s corporate style of speed dating) where groups of 2 – 3 resellers were able to rotate in 10 minute increments to each vendor table to hear vendors’ pitches and have their questions answered. Many resellers thought that the Speed Networking was a valuable time to meet with all the sponsoring vendors.

It’s not speed dating – it’s speed networking!

ShoreTel, Polycom, and HP Networking reminded the resellers about their joint Unified Communications solution that may be useful in their back pockets when discussing business solutions with their end user customers.

The group dinner was held at the world famous Russell’s Steakhouse. Everyone came out stuffed from the appetizers, juicy steaks, and dessert!

We ended the Boot Camp by bringing the resellers into the Buffalo Ingram Micro office for breakout sessions and tours of the Solution Center and Experience Center.

EVENT RECAP: Networking, Security, and Unified Communications Technology Solutions Conference

We just wrapped up the Networking, Security, and Unified Communications Technology Solutions Conference at the lovely Hyatt Regency Long Beach this past week. We had over 150 attendees including our valued customers, vendor sponsors, and Ingram Micro associates. It was equally a fun and educational event covering the three technologies!

The theme was “Cruising Around the World” and we kicked off the conference on Tuesday night with a private tour and a Welcome Dinner aboard the Queen Mary. The Queen Mary was a former luxury ocean liner and war ship in the 1930’s through 1950’s, and later transformed into a hotel and tourist attraction now docked in Long Beach, CA. Did you know that the Queen Mary was named as Time Magazine’s top 10 haunted places in the world?

All the different types of wood used on the interior of the Queen Mary – some types are even now extinct!

The next two following days consisted of engaging and educational presentations from our vendor sponsors including: Symantec, SonicWALL, Cisco, Check Point, McAfee, Microsoft Lync, ShoreTel, D-Link, Raritan, Fortinet, Netgear, Kaspersky Lab, HP Networking, Juniper Networks, Fluke Networks, Plantronics, and WatchGuard. We also heard from Ray Arasteh, Ingram Micro’s Unified Communications Category Business Architect on the benefits of unified communications in an organization as well as CompTIA’s instructor Dan Shapero on how to effectively sell security solutions. The main points that were reiterated throughout the conference were the importance of bundling solutions together when selling and addressing business needs with solutions instead of just products.
