The evolution of cloud has seen many businesses move from private to public cloud platforms, and it has become evident that while some workloads and applications require a private, dedicated environment, others operate more efficiently on a public cloud platform.
No cloud is a one-size-fits-all solution, so increasingly we see organizations adopt hybrid or multi-cloud infrastructures to support varying requirements for different business units. This raises the question of where to begin to simplify enterprise IT architecture. Often, the best starting point may be foundational – the data center.
How Colocation Supports Multi-Cloud Solutions
Rather than distributing the IT architecture across a growing number of data centers many businesses find value by locating the enterprise layer of their architecture in the same data center as the cloud providers they employ today, and establishing direct connections to cloud service providers.
The resulting solution achieves higher performance at a lower total cost by providing the following key benefits:
- Enhances business performance by eliminating or reducing latency inherent in connecting and integrating multiple clouds and supporting service providers
- Reduces cost and complexity by reducing the number of network connections required to support the architecture
- Ensures competitive pricing on a wide array of network products connecting the enterprise premises to the network-rich, cloud-enabled data center
- Enables flexibility in the enterprise architecture by ensuring that changes can be supported on a real-time basis

Expand an existing SPAN (Port Mirror) or Tap port monitoring capability with the USR 10/100/1000 Variable 4 Port Aggregator and Regenerator. Dual purpose hardware provides the option to share identical copies of data made by Tap or SPAN ports to multiple tools for security, storage or recording purposes — or combine Tap and SPAN port data into one combined stream for complete visibility into network traffic. The 3:1 mode faultlessly combines and processes up to three streams of data into a single data stream allowing a single monitoring tool access to a larger portion of the network. The 1:3 mode replicates up to 3 copies of data, and when used with an Aggregation Tap like the USR4503 can increase visibility to four monitor ports, sending identical copies to separate network tools (analyzer, IDS, probe) for simultaneous monitoring and analyzing. Eliminate SPAN port contention, oversubscription, and configuration errors with this easy to install and port saving device. Ideal for security applications or anywhere you need dedicated access to your network links for advanced or consolidated monitoring.
- Network stability – help eliminate SPAN port contention and errors
- Simple installation
- Up-time – deploy tools immediately without impacting production network

Have you heard? Ingram Micro recently acquired NetXUSA Inc, an unified communications and collaboration distributor. Ingram Micro aims to boost our portfolio of IP communications products to strengthen our UCC business and better support our customers.
Telecom and VoIP are growing in importance for managed service providers like Platte River Networks, which have to meet greater demands for connectivity, bandwidth and cloud solutions from customers. The acquisition of NetXUSA shows that Ingram Micro recognizes that need in the marketplace and is investing to help its partners fill the void for customers, as stated by David DeCamillis, vice president of sales and marketing at Platte River Networks, a Denver-based Ingram Micro partner.
Ingram will gain immediate access to a new telecom service provider customer set, and will look to leverage those relationships throughout the distributor’s entire global organization, Ingram Micro CEO Alain Mione stated. NetXUSA will keep the name as an Ingram Micro company. NetXUSA supports 1,200 customers in the United States with more than 300 independent telecommunications service providers and 800-plus resellers.
